Helen has published hundreds of articles in many magazines such as: Reader’s Digest, Guideposts, Decision, The Mennonite Brethren Herald, and others. Some of her articles have been translated into German, French, Hungarian, and Spanish.
Helen's stories have also appeared in 38 books written either in English or in German. She is a regular contributor to Daily Guideposts, Rejoice!, and TruthMedia.
Helen has published four books:
–Footprints of Compassion, Fraser Valley Custom Printers, 1988, as editor and contributor.
–Lead, Kindly Light, Essence Publishing c. 1999, won an Honorable Mention in the non-fiction book (historical/biographical) category in God Uses Ink Canadian Christian Writing Awards, June 2000.
–Am Morgen Laecheln die Engel, Brunnen Verlag, Germany, 2002. (It is a translation of Lead, Kindly Light.)
–Lead, Kindly Light, WinePress Publishing Group, August 2009, soft cover 259 pages. This expanded edition has more personal story and Mennonite history.
–Treasures of Darkness, Essence Publishing c. 2004 short-listed for The Word Guild awards.
A second printing of Treasures of Darkness by Friesens Corporation, 2007, contains more devotional articles and poems.
–He Raised Me Up To Stand On Mountains, Essence Publishing c. 2005, soft cover 271 pages.
As an inspirational speaker
Helen has spoken in many churches, Christian Women’s Clubs, at Christmas events, family reunions, and other functions across Canada and the U.S.A. Twice she has been a guest on the Canadian national television program 100 Huntley Street.
